OUR FIRST OLDIE: ‘DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD’
November 1st, 2010 by Clark Humphrey

Not only does next Monday bring the televised return of Conan O’Brien, but it brings an end to Seattle’s original all sleaze-talk station. Fisher Broadcasting is switching KVI-AM from conservatalk to oldies music.

Insert your joke about but-they’ve-been-mired-in-the-past-all-this-time here.

    Clark,

This will be interesting. Not that it’s reasonable to hope that KVI might be anything like its “glory days” as Seattle’s leading “Middle-of-the-road” station in the 60’s with the likes of Bob Hardwick and Jack Morton on the microphone–heck, most of those guys are probably dead by now. It’d get a few listeners’ attention, though, if they resurrected the Hugh Heller/Johnny Mann “Sound Of The City” station ID jingles.
