Comicon begins, as does the Mariners’ home season. And we’re still here as before, pondering alleged racist “microaggression” at a certain cable news channel (NOT “that one”); how “diverse” Seattle’s neighborhoods really aren’t; folks in high rises who don’t like the prospect of other high rises; a Bauhaus Coffee resurrection?; and the usual scads of weekend things.

As we await the first hot weather of the year, we also consider a bad place to put up an ad poster; why you can’t get some electric cars here; when “conversation” about thorny issues isn’t enough; and a big day for one of my all-time lit heroes.

Don’t write off the Mariners after one game. Wait at least a week. And while you’re waiting, read up on Alaska Airlines’ big purchase; Metro’s route changes changing again?; Burien’s crusade against “junk cars”; beautifying Greenwood’s boarded-up storefronts; and a rising singing star’s food concession at the new KEXP space.

Hope springs eternal (or at least for a day) as the Mariners’ season begins. We also mention: whales vs. whales; the new 520 bridge non-charity walkathon; another hyper-sleazy “war against the poor” move; and, yeah, the end of the UW women’s hoop dreams (for this year).

Our promise: No “funny” fake headlines! In (presumably) “real” news: Another (non-lethal) “Ducks” crash; a family squabble keeps a historic corner un-re-developed (for now); another company wants “job saving” tax breaks; equality for soccer women; and scores of weekend things to do.

On the final day of (the real) Mama’s Mexican Kitchen, we also discuss a crusade by #ManInTree’s mom; a new low in dumb “upscale” hotel naming; a UK comedian crying at Seattle’s Tent City; more backlash against racially-insensitive place (and restaurant) names; and the late Love Israel.

In our midweek news: there’s a state budget at last; Boeing’s dropping thousands of workers (again); 15 indoor homeless shelters could close; Sen. Murray still (heart)s ex-Sen. Clinton; and homeowners could derail an urban-wilderness preservation project.

Could we actually have the first real warm weather of the year? In any event, we’re discussing the potential for a state budget deal at long last; one of the many surviving J.P. “Patches Pals;” more about the West Seattle greenbelt tree thievery; drivers obsessed with hunting down temporary free parking; and a potential new craze in “startup religions.”

We’re back to the post-holiday daze, waiting for the dry and warm weather that’s been predicted, and reading about the mess that’s been the massive Metro-bus morphing; Portland encouraging the homeless to leave town; the living-wage movement’s progress; racist vandalism; and the premise that wildfires can be good for the rural economy.

It’s Easter/Passover/Presidential caucus weekend, and we’re looking at a smashing light-rail success; what little we know about “#ManInTree;” a Microsoft AI fail (due to predictable human frailties); how to rehab an ex-big box store; and the usual dozens of weekend activities.

The day before Good Friday finds Seattle without the #ManInTree (but not without the problems he epitomized). Also: a settlement in a longstanding abusive-priest case; a Nixon henchman’s admission from “beyond the grave;” an art gallery’s chance to survive redevelopment; and keeping Rx drugs out of the water supply.

The (potentially) only-in-Seattle spectacle of weirdness and sadness that is #ManInTree. Also in your midweek missive: The soul of Belgium; Hillary Clinton’s Muckleshoot name; an investigation into the Pronto! buyout; and Mama’s Mexican Kitchen saved! (Sort of.)
